Rest in peace my friend.
by catfishcatfish on 3-6-2009It fucking hurts my heart to write this. I just got the word that a good friend passed. This friend was Alon Weiswman. I first met Alon through BMXBOARD. I didn't know much about him other than he lived on the other side of the planet in Israel. I never thought in a million years I would ever get to meet him. I knew he was a legit dude when one day I walked into work at Ford (pre DK days) and had an e-mail from him. This cat actually tagged a wall in Tel Aviv, Israel with a huge red CATFISHCATFISH.COM tag. It was one of the coolest things ever. I knew from that point on he was a keeper. We e-mailed a ton and talked via AIM. Our paths finally crossed at the Rebel Jam in Berlin in 2007. He gave me the biggest hug and told me how he was going to win the rail contest. The only issue was..the rail contest was due to start in about 15 minutes and Alon was fucking HAMMERdrunk. I thought to myself there is no way he is going to ride. Boy was I wrong. He charged that fucking rail. I'll have to see if there is footage of it somewhere. It was nuts. It was like BK, Brad Simms, Aaron Ross, and Alon going at this rail. I forget who won but Alon won my heart that night. We stayed in contact quite a bit. He hooked it up with Micah and the boys when they were over in Israel. Alon had called me a couple times to make sure that I was going to Estonia for SImpel Session. He told me he was banging a hot black girl in Sweden and that he would certainly be there. Sure enough I got to see that smiling face when I walked into the host hotel. So stoked. I made sure to introduce all the awesome people I knew to the awesomest dude to ever come out of Israel. We partied quite a bit, what stands out in my mind is when we bought a bottle of Absinth and Alon showed the entire hotel room how to properly burn and consume it. Tony Malouf didn't believe him until he did the first shot of Alons mixture. Wonderful times. To me Alon epitomizes how BMX should function. You meet people online. You make friends. You meet those people in person and you fucking rage. So many smiles were brought to my life from this man. From him hucking himself down a rail in Berlin drunk as shit to him rapping Rick Ross's "Everyday I hustlin" in Aaron Ross's face. Alon understood BMX, but more importantly, Alon understood life. He had it figured out. If we could all only be that lucky. Rest in Peace my friend. You will be missed.

Florida is amazing
by catfishcatfish on 2-25-2009I love Florida. Most people that know me understand this. I seriously can't get enough of that place. It's got great weather, an insane BMX scene, and most importantly CHARACTERS. There are so many characters that roam the land of Florida that its almost shocking. WIld ass bums, crazy ass girls, and of course Kyle Painter and Crew. I had the pleasure of spending five days in the land of love and it was awesome. For starters I stayed at Rob Nollis house. He might have the most awesome home ever. On top of the fact that it is laid out and an awesome house. He's got TONS of BMX nostalgia all over the place. It ruled. Thanks again to Rob and Winnie for letting us crash in your home. The demos went awesome. We rode Mesh, Skatepark of Gainsville, and Merrit Island. I had never been to the latter two parks and had a blast there. I was sure not to break my hip bone on the ramp that got Friemuth a few years back. Love you Davie. I got to drive around in a Navigator on 24s so I fit right in. Most of the time I was shirtless as well. I was also living dangerously as I have a warrant out for my arrest from the Dew Tour in October. You cant stop me. Big thanks to all the peoples that made shit fun. Especially Cottle. You are the best. BOOOM!

FLORIDA RIDAZ
by catfishcatfish on 2-12-2009Wanted to drop a line to all the friends and family of Jeremy Lusk. He will be missed for sure. I had the pleasure of meeting and kicking it with Jeremy on several occasions. I got to interview him a couple times at X-games. Great dude and he will certainly be missed. I am heading down to Florida next weekend for a skatepark tour. All the proceeds raised will go to the Lusk family. If you are in Florida come on out and ride. Thats what ridaz do. Ridaz ride.

Things....
by catfishcatfish on 2-12-2009The last couple days have been nothing short of insane. Rays MTB contest was so much fun. There was a TON of insane tricks that went down. Check out www.RaysMTB.com for some of the videos. All I know is that Taj does and will always and forever rule. I was eating pizza the other night...(Donatos pizza is the best pizza in the world by the way) and I popped in an old road fools. Look what I found. The one and only Tim "Fuzzy" Hall doing an X-factor back in 1972. I don't even think Big Daddy was born yet. Go Fuzz go. Thanks for the SkullCandy goodies boss!

Paul Palmer R.I.P
by catfishcatfish on 2-4-2009Just got the word today that Paul Palmer was shot and killed last night in Pittsburgh by a police officer. I don't know the story. What i read was that he pulled a .357 on the cop and the cop fired back. Regardless..this is another tragic loss for BMX.
